Following his appointment by the Executive Governor of Benue State and Visitor to the University, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia (Asor Tar U Tiv), on Tuesday, 10th February, 2026, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar has formally taken over the leadership of Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu University.

The handover ceremony took place today at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, where the out-going Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Ayangarumun Kenen, officially handed responsibilities of the Vice Chancellor's office to Professor Alabar. The event was witnessed by Principal Officers of the University.

In his remarks, Professor Kenen expressed deep appreciation to the Governing Council, chaired by Sir Paul Chukwuma, for recommending him to serve as Acting Vice-Chancellor. He also extended his gratitude to the Governor for approving his appointment.

Reflecting on his tenure, he thanked members of the university community for their cooperation, loyalty, support and encouraged them to extend the same goodwill to the new Vice-Chancellor.

In his acceptance speech, Professor Alabar conveyed his profound appreciation to the Governor for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to build his administration on three guiding pillars: intelligence, hard work and integrity. According to him, these values will shape efforts to create a more conducive environment for academic excellence.

He emphasized that the core mandate of the University remains teaching, research and community service. Professor Alabar assured that student-related matters would receive priority attention, while staff welfare would be strengthened and critical facilities improved to enhance teaching, learning and research activities.
