step by step.
Applications, payments and document uploads for CEFTER programmes are handled on the Centre's own admission portal — the process below explains what to expect there.

General process
How to apply
Follow these steps in order. Everything happens on the Centre's admission portal, apart from the last two.

Create an applicant account on the CEFTER admission portal, using your phone number as both username and password.

Log in to your account using your phone number.

Select the active admission round and pay the non-refundable application fee of ₦15,000.
- 4
Once payment is confirmed, your application form is activated for you to complete.

Print your completed form together with originals and photocopies of your credentials and certificate of state of origin, for screening on the date announced by CEFTER management.

Forward transcripts of your current qualification to the Admission Officer, Centre for Food Technology and Research, Benue State University, Makurdi.
Example
Entry requirements — M.Sc. / Ph.D. Food Chemistry
Published in full on the Centre's admission portal for each programme; this is the one example published with complete detail at the time of writing.
Second class (honours) upper division, CGPA of at least 3.5 on a 5-point scale, in Chemistry or a related discipline, plus O'Level credits in English, Mathematics, Chemistry and two other science subjects.
A minimum of an M.Sc. in Food Chemistry (or a related area) with a CGPA of at least 3.5 on a 5-point scale from a recognised institution.
Scholarships
DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship
CEFTER has previously hosted a DAAD-funded scholarship (M.Sc. and Ph.D. Food Chemistry) for candidates from Nigeria and other Sub-Saharan African countries, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development. Scholarship rounds are announced periodically on the Centre's admission portal — check there for the current call.
